Amanda Bynes' Nose Job: Troubled Star Reveals She Had Plastic Surgery

The 27-year-old has taken to Twitter to reveal that she did, in fact, have a nose job several years ago. Bynes says that she hates when media outlets use old photos of her, gushing, "I look so much prettier in my new photos."
"Intouch used a photo from years ago on their cover and I hate it! The reason I've asked all magazines and blogs to stop using old photos of me is I don't look like that anymore! I had a nose job to remove skin that was like a webbing in between my eyes. I wasn't going to tell anyone, but I look so much prettier in my new photos that I don't want old photos used anymore!" she tweeted May 5.
"I'm so sick of magazines and blogs using old photos! When will they stop?" Bynes continued. "I will never look like that again! Having surgery was the most amazing thing for my confidence!"
The troubled star has been open about her new appearance, tweeting about her haircut, weight loss and style over the past few months.

Having ditched HBO for Showtime, Mayweather needs to keep the boxing world entranced. And he needs to keep winning. Mayweather's training camp for his 44th fight (44-0) was the longest he had ever undertaken.

Sexy or scary? See Sarah Jessica Parker's vampy magazine cover

What is going on with this cover of the Chinese edition of Harper's Bazaar magazine? Sarah Jessica Parker appears on the March 2013 issue, and if her photo wasn't Photoshopped in a truly bizarre way, then something has seriously happened to the actress' appearance.
PS Disasters, which highlights Photoshop mess-ups, think they see a space alien resemblance, and they might just be right. And The Huffington Post points out that Parker has gone under the Photoshop knife before, with Marie Claire and Elle committing some weird photo plastic surgery.
Readers of the China-focused blog Shanghaiist shared their Parker thoughts on the blog's Facebook page.
"Wow... every tool in photoshop and then some.. and yet somehow she looks like a demonic alien," wrote Ilsa Mac.
Ben Blanchard saw a "Wizard of Oz" similarity, writing "She looks like the wicked witch of the east. Quite terrifying!"

Clive Davis fires back after Kelly Clarkson slam

Thanks to Kelly Clarkson, the soundtrack to Clive Davis' life is more discord than harmony these days.
With the release this week of his memoir, "The Soundtrack of My Life," the legendary music mogul made headlines for revealing, among other things, that he is bisexual and clashed with his "American Idol" protégé.
Davis claims in the tell-all that Clarkson "burst into hysterical sobbing" after first hearing her hit songs "Since U Been Gone" and "Behind These Hazel Eyes" and fought to cut them from her 2004 album, "Breakaway."

Sony expected to unveil next PlayStation

Sony is widely expected to unveil its next home video game console at an event in New York on Wednesday, as the Japanese electronics maker tries to reclaim its status atop the industry.
The company has yet to reveal any information about the device, other than a brief announcement encouraging video game players to "see the future" of PlayStation.
Speculation swirls around what features the next PlayStation might wield. Several industry analysts, including Inside Network's Billy Pidgeon, expect Sony to continue pressing forward with enhancements to the online PlayStation network and increased digital content options. "We've been seeing a trend toward offering (retail) games on the same day as downloadable games," he says. "That will likely continue."
Sony's upcoming console will also likely see an uptick in technical power. Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter says the console "is certainly going to be faster," but warns the jump might not seem as vast as previous generations. "I think we're getting to the point where games look almost real, (but) you're just not going to want to look more than real," he says.

Robin Roberts returns to 'GMA'

Five months after a bone-marrow transplant to treat a rare blood disorder, Robin Roberts resumed duties as co-anchor of ABC's Good Morning America Wednesday morning, saying "I have been waiting 174 days to say this: 'Good Morning America.' "
Roberts' return was billed as a very special edition of GMA, and it included a welcome back message from President Obama and wife Michelle, whom Roberts is scheduled to interview in the next few days: "Good morning America and welcome back Robin," Obama said.
"Robin," Michelle Obama added, "we just want you to know that the whole Obama family — we've been thinking about you and praying for you and rooting for you every step of the way."
Leading the on-set welcome-back party was co-anchor George Stephanopoulos, who greeted her with, "Hello Robin. The froggy slippers are off and she's back in Times Square five months to the day from her bone-marrow transplant. Her doctors giving her the thumbs-up, she's been getting into fighting shape, all of Team Robin here and across the country give a big welcome right now."
Other guests on set and via video ranged from Roberts' siblings, Sally-Ann and Dorothy, to former secretary of state Hilary Clinton, Oprah Winfrey and Kobe Bryant.
Roberts, looking fit, seemed thrilled to be back.
"I keep pinching myself and I realize this is real. This is actually happening, and I don't have my froggy slippers on, or do I?" she joked. "Faith, family and friends have brought me to this moment and I am so full of gratitude. There are so many people I want to thank throughout the morning, my doctors and nurses and family and colleagues and people who have sat in this chair and those who have blazed the trail before me.
"As my mother said, we all have something and everyone's story has purpose and meaning and value and I share this morning, this day of celebration with everyone."
The words on Roberts' multicolored prayer bracelet — "light, love, power, presence" — were a connecting theme through the morning, and her recovery journey was a highlight of the broadcast. Her fight to regain her health with the help of a yoga instructor and her transplant team had been documented and filmed over the past five months.
"When you go through something like this you can be either fearful or fearless and I chose to be the latter," Roberts is seen saying in film clips of her recovery process. (ABC will air a 20/20 special on her recovery process, Friday at 10 ET/PT.)
Roberts' physicians, Sergio Giralt and Gail Roboz, were interviewed on GMA by Stephanopoulos, who asked how they knew Roberts was ready to come back to work.
"Today is a dress rehearsal, it's her first show, and we'll see how she feels tomorrow," Giralt said, adding that he would assess her condition after the show.

Powerful winter storm slamming Southwest, Plains

Moisture from the Gulf of Mexico is colliding with a cold air mass over Kansas and Nebraska Wednesday, triggering a powerful winter storm that could dump more than a foot of snow over the central Plains, according to the National Weather Service.
Officials feared the winter storm would be the worst in the central U.S. since the Groundhog Day blizzard in 2011, which killed dozens and left hundreds of thousands powerless.
Midday Wednesday, the entire state of Kansas, along with most of Nebraska and Missouri, was under a winter storm warning from the weather service.
Snow was already flying Wednesday across portions of Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas and Missouri, AccuWeather reported.
Some spots in western Kansas had already picked up a half a foot of snow by midday Wednesday, the Weather Channel reported.
Howling winds and driving snow will bring several hours of blizzard conditions to parts of Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota and Iowa Wednesday night into Thursday, AccuWeather meteorologist Anthony Sagliani said.
Widespread snow was also falling in the central and southern Rockies and sleet and freezing rain over parts of Oklahoma, Missouri and Arkansas.
The storm was moving east from California across the Four Corners states Wednesday. This is leading to widespread snowfall across the mountains of Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and northern and eastern Arizona. Lower elevations are seeing a cold rain.
The World Golf Championship Match Play event Wednesday near Tucson was suspended due to snow. In California, snow stranded hundreds of drivers on mountain highways earlier in the day.
"Mostly snow is forecast to fall around Chicago later Thursday and Thursday night, with the storm likely to be not only the biggest storm of the winter so far, but also a very disruptive one at that," Sagliani said. Up to 4 inches of snow is possible in the Windy City, the weather service reported.
The Weather Channel has named the storm "Winter Storm Q."
The powerful storm roaring into the Southwest Wednesday and central U.S. on Thursday will also bring heavy rain, strong winds -- but also much-needed moisture for the drought-scorched Plains.
However, other than the travel issues due to the snow, the precipitation will be welcome in much of the drought-scorched Plains: "Many areas of the drought region should enjoy their their wettest day in months," said meteorologist Jeff Masters of the Weather Underground.
"As bad off as we are this fall and winter, it will definitely help,"said climatologist Mark Svoboda
"Since October, we are down 2 to 4 inches in the region, so while it will help, it will need to be followed up by a couple of other large storms just to get us to normal on the season……and that does nothing to make up for the much larger deficits due to last year's drought."

Lance Armstrong says no again to USADA

Lance Armstrong once again has decided not to cooperate with the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency but said he still plans to "cooperate fully" with other anti-doping authorities instead.
For the second time in two weeks, the famed cyclist has rejected USADA's deadline to submit to a full debriefing about how he cheated on the bike and got away with it for years. If he had agreed to cooperate in time, his testimony could have paved the way for a reduction in his lifetime ban from sanctioned sporting events.
But Armstrong still has issues with USADA "for several reasons," according to a statement released Wednesday by Tim Herman, his attorney. And now he may pursue a different route, possibly through an independent international tribunal yet to be established.
"Lance is willing to cooperate fully and has been very clear: He will be the first man through the door, and once inside will answer every question, at an international tribunal formed to comprehensively address pro cycling, an almost exclusively European sport," Herman's statement said. "We remain hopeful that an international effort will be mounted, and we will do everything we can to facilitate that result. In the meantime, for several reasons, Lance will not participate in USADA's efforts to selectively conduct American prosecutions that only demonize selected individuals while failing to address the 95% of the sport over which USADA has no jurisdiction."

Miranda Kerr & Orlando Bloom's Beach Day with Flynn

Enjoying some laid back family time, Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom took their son Flynn to the beach on Saturday (February 16) in Malibu, CA.
Showing off her svelte body in a black bikini, the Victoria’s Secret beauty played in the sand with her little guy while proud papa bloom entertained by flying a kite.

Never ones to sit still for long, the trio then took a walk along the beach where their curious boy showed no fear trying to climb up some nearby rocks.
All that climbing practice sure came in handy, as Flynn and Miranda were on hand for a gymnastics class on Monday in Los Angeles.

Exclusive Nico Jackson: Dating Pippa Middleton!

Nico Jackson is dating Pippa Middleton, and for that we sort of want to dislike this man big time, even though he seems pretty nice on paper at least.
Who is this fella who won the heart of Kate Middleton's younger sister?

According to various articles written about the new lovebirds ...
  • He's a stockbroker in London at Deutsche Bank.
  • Pippa and Nico reportedly joined Kate and Prince William on the family vacation in Mustique ... site of the infamous bikini baby bump photo controversy.
  • His mom, Ulrike Jackson, told the Daily Mail she is "very pleased" with her son dating Pippa Middleton, and that they are "very happy" ... shocker.
  • He's a skier. British tabloids claim that the duo met while skiing and have recently been enjoying each other's company on the Swiss slopes.
  • He's charming. Not royal, but charming. "Nico is always respectful, very well-mannered," a source tells one UK tabloid. "His whole family is."

14 hurt in Kansas City gas blast

A gas explosion triggered a massive fire at an upscale shopping center in Kansas City, Mo., Tuesday evening, injuring more than a dozen people, a city official said.
Kansas City Manager Troy Schulte says 14 people have been injured. He said officials don't yet know if there were any fatalities, but cadaver dogs are searching the blast site.

Kansas City Fire Chief Paul Berardi said the search for victims could take hours.
"I would always fear there are fatalities in a scene like this," Berardi said during a news conference Tuesday night. "When we got to the scene, we had a fully involved restaurant that had patrons, probably several patrons, inside at the time of incident."
Fire spokesman James Garrett said earlier that two people had suffered life-threatening injuries.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the blast, which appeared to have engulfed an entire block in flames. Police spokeswoman Rhonda Flores said while initially the explosion was attributed to a motor vehicle striking a natural gas line, the blast may have been triggered by a piece of heavy equipment disrupting the gas main.

"Some witnesses have said it might have been a construction worker on a backhoe doing construction in the area," Flores said. "We're still waiting for final word on that."
Berardi said officials don't suspect foul play at this time.
Three people are unaccounted for at JJ's Restaurant at Country Club Plaza, which was engulfed in flames, police said. The manager did not immediately know whether they had left before the explosion about 6 p.m. CT (7 p.m. ET).
The four-alarm blaze burned for about 90 minutes. Flores said it "appears to be contained."

Kelly Clarkson begs to differ with Clive Davis — vehemently

Kelly Clarkson has gone off on Clive Davis in a way he almost predicted in his memoir, "The Soundtrack of My Life."
"It's clear that Kelly Clarkson has a decidedly independent streak, to say the least, and often speaks in public before she realizes the implications of what she's saying," he wrote in a chapter of the book that deals largely with their professional relationship.
It's a chapter full of Clarkson not liking what Davis suggests, with Davis winding up always in the right.

Now, 80-year-old producer Davis may be all that and a slice of toast in the music world, but Clarkson isn't about to be bullied by anyone, the 30-year-old declared Tuesday.
BOOK: Clive Davis talks bisexuality, Dylan, Whitney and more
"So I just heard Clive Davis is releasing a memoir and spreading false information about me and my music," the pop singer wrote on her WhoSay page. "I refuse to be bullied and I just have to clear up his memory lapses and misinformation for myself and for my fans. It feels like a violation. Growing up is awesome because you learn you don't have to cower to anyone — even Clive Davis."
Yes, she said, she did cry in his office once, but it was because she called him a lousy writer who "should just shut up and sing," not because he was insisting the song "Since U Been Gone" go on her album "Breakaway."
And yes, "My December" was a platinum success, she said, not the failure he described because she "co-penned the album and it didn't have 'pop hits.'" And also, she noted, she has "co-penned" many of her pop hits.
That actually conflicts with what Davis wrote about the supposedly lousy song "Because of You."
"I loved the song and the record from the first listen," he wrote, "and felt that it delivered on the promise that Kelly could indeed write hits."
But in the book he did criticize her songwriting on tunes for the next album, "My December," and made a big deal of the fact that it was only single platinum, as opposed to the six-times-platinum success of the album that came before.
For that reality, however, she blamed him.
"What's most interesting about his story is what he leaves out: He doesn't mention how he stood up in front of his company at a convention and belittled me and my music and completely sabotaged the entire ["My December"] project. It never had a chance to reach its full potential."
Interestingly enough, Davis remembers their battles over "My December" being eaten up in the rock press and positioned as "a David-and-Goliath battle between an all-powerful music mogul and a solitary young woman fighting bravely for the right to self-expression."

Colin Kaepernick BODY SHOTS With Hot Bikini Chicks

Mindy McCready dead at 37 just weeks after boyfriend David Wilson's death

Mindy McCready, who hit the top of the country charts before personal problems sidetracked her career, has died. She was 37.
Waren Olmstead, the coroner in Cleburne County, Ark., said in a statement McCready died Sunday apparently of a single, self-inflicted gunshot wound. An autopsy is pending.
McCready's rep said the singer's friends were planning a memorial for her.

"To complement formal family arrangements, preliminary plans are being made by Mindy's 'friends in music' to organize a memorial in Nashville in the coming days," Kat Atwood said in a statement sent to FOX 411.
Just last month David Wilson, McCready’s boyfriend and the father of her 9-month-old son Zayne, was found dead on the same porch where McCready's body was found. His death also was investigated as a suicide.
McCready entered court-ordered rehab earlier this month after her father told a judge she was no longer taking care of herself or her children and was abusing drugs and alcohol. Her sons were put in foster care at the time, but it's not clear where Zander and Zayne were at the time of McCready's suicide.
Wilson's passing struck McCready hard. She issued a statement last month lamenting his death. She called him her soulmate and a caregiver to her sons in an interview with NBC's "Today." She said she'd never gone through anything as painful as his passing.
"I just keep telling myself that the more suffering that I go through, the greater character I`ll have," she said, according to a transcript of the interview.
News of McCready's death spread quickly Sunday night on Twitter with major country stars paying their respects to Nashville's onetime darling.
"Too much tragedy to overcome. R.I.P Mindy McCready," wrote Natalie Maines of The Dixie Chicks.
And Jason Aldean added: "Just heard about Mindy McCready. My thoughts and prayers are with her 2 boys and her family."
Melinda Gayle McCready arrived in Nashville in 1994 still in her teens with tapes of her karaoke vocals and earned a recording contract with BNA Records.

Fergie, Josh Duhamel Confirm Baby On The Way

Cue all those lady lumps jokes. Fergie and Josh Duhamel have confirmed that they are expecting their first baby.
Both the Black Eyed Peas frontwoman and the "Safe Haven" actor confirmed the news on social media, including a photo of each of them as kids. He wrote, "Fergie and Me and BABY makes three. #MyLovelyBabyBump." And she mirrored his sentiment with "Josh & Me & BABY makes three!!!"

The couple married in January 2009 and the confirmation comes after years of speculation about Fergie's maybe baby bump. In fact, when Fergie spoke to MTV News in March 2012, she shared that a baby wasn't in the cards just yet, but more time with her hubby definitely was. "It's not happening yet, I can tell you that definitely," she told us. "But we want to have a family, so that is in the cards, but it's just not this second." In October 2010, Duhamel revealed that Fergie has the potential to become more parental, once she spends more time with kids. Fergie "[is] not afraid of children; she just hasn't had as much experience with little ones. She's great with kids when they grow up a little bit more, when she can interact with them," he said.
But, his "Life As We Know It" co-star Katherine Heigl noted that Josh is great with kids. "Oh my God! The best of the best! He's fantastic," Heigl said at the time. "He's really good with children. They sort of flocked to him. I think it's a pheromone thing. I think he puts off, like, a chocolate-cookie scent to children. They love him."
This past weekend Duhamel showed off that loving side in the Nicholas Sparks adaptation, "Safe Haven." When he spoke to us about the film, he broke down the process to a perfect smolder.
"Lots and lots of rehearsal in the mirror," Duhamel said. "Tape recording my voice into a tape recorder. Playing it back. 'Hmm, not quite smoldery enough.' I'd do it again until I'm ready for Nicholas Sparks, and that was the extent of my preparation for this film. Lots of vanity."

Russian meteor blast injures at least 1,000 people, authorities say

A meteor streaked through the skies above Russia's Urals region Friday morning before exploding with a flash and boom that shattered glass in buildings and left about 1,000 people hurt, authorities said.
Described by NASA as a "tiny asteroid," the meteor's explosion created a blast in central Russia equivalent to 300,000 tons of TNT, the space agency's officials said Friday, adding that the incident was a once-in-100-years event.
The injured included more than 200 children. Most of those hurt are in the Chelyabinsk region, though the vast majority of injuries are not thought to be serious.

About 3,000 buildings were damaged -- mostly with broken glass -- as a result of the shock waves caused by the blast, the state-run RIA Novosti news agency said.
Vladimir Stepanov, of the National Center for Emergency Situations at the Russian Interior Ministry, earlier told state media that hospitals, kindergartens and schools were among those affected.
About 20,000 emergency response workers were mobilized, RIA Novosti reported.

Amateur video footage showed a bright white streak moving rapidly across the sky, before exploding with an even brighter flash and a deafening bang.
The explosion occurred about 9:20 a.m. local time, as many people were out and about.
It was captured in vivid images by Russians, many of whom used dash cameras inside their vehicles.
Dash cameras are popular in Russia for several reasons including possible disputes over traffic accidents and the corrupt reputations of police in many areas. Drivers install the cameras for their own protection and to document incidents they could be caught in; on Friday, they were able to document a spectacular natural phenomenon.

CNN iReporter and Instagram user Max Chuykov saw the meteor trail from the city of Yekaterinburg. He shared on Instagram that it was "close to the ground."
Witness Ekaterina Shlygina posted to CNN iReport and wrote on Instagram: "Upon Chelyabinsk a huge fireball has exploded. It wasn't an aircraft."
The national space agency, Roscosmos, said scientists believed one meteoroid had entered the atmosphere, where it burned and disintegrated into fragments.

The resulting meteorites are believed to be scattered across three regions of Russia, one of them Chelyabinsk, as well as neighboring Kazakhstan, the news agency said.
One large chunk was discovered in a lake in the Chelyabinsk region, RIA Novosti cited the Chelyabinsk governor as saying.
A spokesman for the Emergency Ministry for the Chelyabinsk region told CNN earlier Friday that 524 people there were injured and 34 hospitalized.

All better? Great! Now, repay 11 years of workers' comp ? Business ...

A South Carolina man has been convicted of workers? compensation fraud for bilking the Ohio Bureau of Workers? Compensation out of $143,203.33. Joseph Curto of Conway, S.C., dodged a sentence of up to 18 months in prison, getting four years of community supervision instead. The judge said he had to remain employed the whole time.

Curto will need the paychecks, too, because he must repay the workers? comp bureau.

However, maintaining employment shouldn?t be a problem. In fact, Curto?s insistence on working while continuing to receive workers? comp benefits is what tipped off Ohio investigators.

When they heard he was working for a trucking company, bureau officials traveled to South Carolina to confront him. Under questioning, he admitted to working seven different jobs since 1999, when he began receiving total disability payments following an injury suffered while working in Ohio. At each, he used his wife?s Social Security number to hide the income.

Without Jerry Buss, will Lakers remain in good hands

The death of Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry Buss takes the questions beyond whether the franchise that won 10 NBA titles under him can salvage this season. The uncertainty now is whether the Lakers can sustain their lofty status in coming years.
Buss died Monday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He had been undergoing cancer treatment.
With this season's Lakers struggling at 25-29 and 10th in the Western Conference entering the second half ot the season, team spokesman John Black said Buss had prepared the franchise for the transition ahead. His son Jim, the Lakers' executive vice president of player personnel, has been running the basketball operations since 2011. His daughter, Jeanie, has overseen the business side.
"The future of the organization will remain unchanged. Dr. Buss set it up years in advance — he planned for the team to remain with the family," Black said. "As far as the operation and running of the team, that will be unchanged."

Exclusive 'Bachelor' Sean meets parents, agonizes over final three

He went to the homes of Desiree, Catherine, AshLee and Lindsay and met moms, dads, brothers, sisters and dogs. He asked for blessings from dads in case he wants to propose. He told moms he was "crazy" about their daughters. He was grilled by sisters and called out by a brother.
Here's how it went:
First up: AshLee in Houston. "This is the moment I've been waiting for!" she says. "Before I meant Sean, I thought I knew what love was, but I had no clue what real true love was."
She's out walking her little dog when Sean pulls up. They have a picnic in a field. "Here I am," she declares to the cameras, "about to introduce this man that I have fallen into love with. To my family."

AshLee says her dad is a pastor. Sean talks about how his dad is a preacher in his church. They smile and kiss. "You should be pretty confident in what we have," he tells her.
She confesses: "Today is huge. I have never brought home someone that I am madly, deeply in love with, so truth be told — it's terrifying!" And "my parents' approval is extremely important to me."
They sit outside at a table in the sun, and AshLee's dad wants to know everything that has gone on. AshLee talks about the polar bear plunge swim and says they went to St. Croix, adding, "You'll have to forgive me; there was a lot of romance."
Then it's grillin' time. No, not food. Mom Deborah confesses to the cameras that AshLee's "eyes show she's madly in love. But hearts are fragile. ... I want somebody that will give 100% of himself to her." She takes Sean away to sit by the house and chat. "What are your intentions for AshLee? Are you going to break her heart?"
"No, ma'am," says Sean. "It's certainly not my intention."
Deborah says that AshLee had been in five foster homes in one year when she came to live with them, so, yes, she's got some abandonment issues. "You better not break her heart!" says Mom.

When it's dad Bruce's turn, Sean tells him, "I'm crazy about your daughter. I see that love is on the horizon."
Says Bruce, "Probably good thing you live in Dallas, if you don't pick her. I won't have to be bumpin' into ya."
They rejoin AshLee and Deborah, and Bruce then recalls when he and his wife first met AshLee. They had foster-parented 16 kids. AshLee was 4 at the time. She had a cast on her hand and was mad, says Bruce. "Right away I looked at her and said, 'This one's going to be really hard to give back.' The moment I saw her, I had a connection, and I loved her." He starts crying.
As the sun sets, AshLee says, "I want to marry this man. Like, the second we can. We're in love. I don't want to wait." They kiss. They hug. "Today has been magical," she says. "It's like there's pixie dust everywhere."

Chris Brown: Threatened By Gang Member Outside Club!

Everyone seems to have beef with Chris Brown these days.
Drake is suing him after their brawl last year, Frank Ocean threw down with him in a parking lot, the D.A. alleges he didn't do community service ... so it goes.
Now gang members are threatening him outside clubs!

As he left Playhouse Wednesday night - the same venue where Drake was denied entry because Chris was inside - he was confronted by some crazy dude.
It's unclear why the n-word, f-bomb throwing gangster was screaming at Brown, but he accused the star of being a crip and asked if his car was bulletproof.
Chris drove away from the scene without any sort of physical altercation, but not before dropping a few f-bombs and n-bombs of his own back at the guy.
When asked about the incident Friday outside his art studio, Rihanna's boyfriend was uncharacteristically sanguine. "It's L.A. brother," he told TMZ.
"You just gotta keep your head down and keep walking."
Words to live by. Not ones Chris Brown seems to abide by, given his history of being even-tempered and avoiding conflict, but words to live by just the same.

Google Nexus 4 update sees Android 4.2.2 introduced

Google has released a bug fix for the Google Nexus 4, with the handset benefitting from a newly launched Android 4.2.2 update.

Bringing a selection of fixes and patches for the latest addition to the Nexus line of devices, the Android 4.2.2 update, which is available as an over-the-air download, offers only incremental changes and not wholesale updates to the Samsung Galaxy S3 and iPhone 5 rival.

Whilst Google, unlike Apple, does not offer a detailed change-log with each update, breaking down all the incoming alterations, it is believed the patch will see a number of minor changes made, including the introduction of an progress percentage check for downloading applications.

According to latest reports, the newly released Android 4.2.2 update, which measures in at just 54MB in size, also sees Google Nexus 4 handset owners offered new wireless charging and low battery alert sounds, enhanced quick settings access and a new Gallery app animation.

Google Nexus 4 Specs
Having been the launch device for the latest Android 4.2 Jelly Bean release, the Google Nexus 4 has gone on to become a true powerhouse of the smartphone sector, enticing users with its high-end specs sheet and wallet-friendly price tag combination.

With an expansive and vibrant 4.7-inch WXGA IPS display leading the Google Nexus 4 specs contingent, the handset features an impressive 1280 x 768p resolution and a 320 pixels-per-inch image density, all wrapped within a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protective coating.

Lining up at just 9.1mm thick and a friendly 139g in weight, the Google Nexus 4 features list is further complimented by 2GB of RAM, a speedy 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and the option of either 8GB or 16GB of internal storage. Although only a black Google Nexus 4 handset is currently available for purchase, a white model has recently leaked online.

With over 1 million Google Nexus 4 handsets having already sold despite repeated stock shortages, the device is rounded off by an 8-megapixel rear-mounted camera with 1080p Full HD video recording capabilities and a second, 1.3-megapixel snapper around front. A 2100mAh Lithium-polymer battery provides the handset?s staying power.

Broadcasters blame zombie hack on easy passwords

(Reuters) - Poor password security paved the way for hackers to broadcast a bogus warning on television networks, saying that the United States was under attack by zombies, broadcasters said.

Cyber security experts said the equipment the hackers broke into remained vulnerable to further breaches, and that hackers could potentially take control of the equipment to prevent the government from sending out public warnings during an emergency.

Following the attacks Monday on a handful of TV stations, the government ordered broadcasters to change the passwords for the equipment that authorities use to instantly transmit emergency broadcasts through what is known as the Emergency Alert System, or EAS.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) would not comment on the attacks, but in an urgent advisory sent to TV stations on Tuesday, the agency said: "All EAS participants are required to take immediate action."

It instructed them to change passwords on equipment from all manufacturers used to deliver emergency broadcasts to TV networks, interrupting regular programming. The FCC instructed them to ensure that gear was properly secured behind firewalls and to inspect their systems to ensure that hackers had not queued "unauthorized alerts" for future transmission.

VULNERABLE

The attacks come in the wake of warnings by officials and outside security experts that the United States is at risk of a cyber attack that could cause major physical damage or even cost lives. President Barack Obama has told Congress that some hackers were looking for ways to attack the U.S. power grid, banks and air traffic control systems.

While the zombie hoax appeared to be somewhat innocuous, the relatively easy incursion showed that hackers might be able to wreak havoc with more alarming communications.

"It isn't what they said. It is the fact that they got into the system. They could have caused some real damage," said Karole White, president of the Michigan Association of Broadcasters.

White and her counterpart in Montana, Greg MacDonald, said they believed the hackers were able to get in because TV stations had not changed the default passwords they used when the equipment was first shipped from the manufacturer.

But Mike Davis, a hardware security expert with a firm known as IOActive Labs, said hackers could still get past new passwords to remotely access the systems.

Davis said he had submitted a report to the Department of Homeland Security's U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team, or US-CERT, about a month ago that detailed the security flaws.

"Changing passwords is insufficient to prevent unauthorized remote login. There are still multiple undisclosed authentication bypasses," he told Reuters via email. "I would recommend disconnecting them from the network until a fix is available."

Davis said he was able to use Google Inc's search engine to identify some 30 systems that he believed were vulnerable to attack as of Wednesday morning.

A spokesman for US-CERT said he could not immediately comment on the matter.

MANY WAYS IN

Stuart McClure, chief executive of cyber security firm Cylance Inc., said he had investigated cases in which hackers accessed EAS systems via a different method: breaking into hidden accounts built into the systems by manufacturers so that service technicians can easily access them for repairs.

"You cannot give a separate pass code to everybody. Nobody is going to remember it. You have to share the secret," said McClure, who previously ran a unit at Intel Corp's McAfee security division that investigated cyber attacks.

He declined to discuss the cases he had worked on, saying that would violate client confidentiality.

Broadcasters and security experts warned that attacks on the Emergency Alert System could undermine the government's ability to communicate with the public in times of crisis.

"While EAS may not control nuclear power or hydroelectric dams or air traffic control, it can be used to cause widespread panic," McClure said.

Indeed, far worse than broadcasting zombie jokes, hackers who are able to gain control of the equipment could prevent authorities from warning the public about actual emergencies, McClure added.

Federal Emergency Management Agency spokesman Dan Watson said that the "zombie" breach did not have any impact on the government's ability to activate the Emergency Alert System.

'BODIES ARE RISING'

The "zombie" hackers targeted two stations in Michigan, and several in California, Montana and New Mexico, White said.

A male voice addressed viewers in a video posted on the Internet of the bogus warning broadcast from KRTV, a CBS affiliate based in Great Falls, Montana: "Civil authorities in your area have reported that the bodies of the dead are rising from the grave and attacking the living."

The voice warned not "to approach or apprehend these bodies as they are extremely dangerous."

Bill Robertson, vice president of privately held electronics manufacturer Monroe Electronics of Lyndonville, New York, told Reuters that equipment from his company had been compromised in at least some of the attacks after hackers gained access to default passwords.

Monroe publishes the default passwords for its equipment in user manuals that can be accessed on its public website.

Robertson said that he believed attackers had been able to access the devices over the Internet because television stations had not properly secured the equipment behind fire walls, which is what Monroe recommends.

"The devices were not really locked down right. They were exposed," he said.

He said that the company was working to beef up security on the equipment and might update its software to compel customers to change default passwords.
